Virgil, did you ever get down to the Yucatan last October? Did you manage to successfully raise funds for Alison's pups? Hope you have had best of luck!
How are you currently involved with animal welfare issues?
Online activism, letter writing campaigns, involvement with several local animal advocacy groups & rescues including doing demos & walks. I have personally adopted 4 wonderful rescue dogs - Rico, Dexter, Shayna & Nikki.
I joined the Hope Animal Network because...
This is such a vital cause, and I want to do all I can to help its success.
Hobbies and interests:
Playing music with my band Tuxedo Road (acoustic & bass guitar, harmonica) cooking (organic, Vegan), sharing quality time with my dogs, activism/advocacy for animal rights
What else you should know about me:
I'm a transplanted native of MontreaI, Canada and I have always adored and felt a special kinship with all animals. One of my earliest recollections is of becoming so upset when Lassie was "hurt" in an episode that I was unconsolable - my mom was afraid to ever let me watch the show again! I went veg at age 11 - just horrified by the lobster tank during a family dinner at a seafood restaurant! So yes, I'm a kook for animals! I have met some of the greatest people in the animal movement, and look forward to making many new friends through Hope Animal Network!
tks, virgil we try to do what is best for them
to have a second chance, a better life
but right know is really hard to find a good family for them.

Hi Virgil,
Sorry to take so long in returning your message about helping out stateside with grant writing..... Pls message me with your email address so I can put you in contact with our organizational wizard, Stan Burnett (or look for him on Hope Animal Network) as he might have some ideas to pass by you.
Thank you so very much Virgil..........I am behind on my work for my sanctuary due to a car accident that almost killed me in June of last year. Recovery and rehab has been my main focus since my accident but I am hoping to finish my recovery soon and get back to my 100% focus on opening my sanctuary. The animals need me and I refuse to let disability stop me from trying to help them!!!
Yes! Thank you! I found him a very nice home ( a friend of mine, who's dog died 3 moths ago-he was 19 years, so I thought it was too soon to ask her- ) They all love him there :) I will son upload pics of my own beatiful Dog :) Thanks for asking
hi virgil...OMG! i love your photo gallery sooo much....thanks for getting in touch...you can send shoes to:
ZAPP
attn: Steven

Hi Virgil, You may know that Steve who is pretty much the man behind ZAPP does collect NEARLY NEW shoes and sells them on EBAY. That money goes toward the neutering and spaying costs of the clinic they have several times per month as each animal taken care of does cost about $35.00. So if you can see about collecting GOOD CONDITION HARDLY WORN shoes of all sizes, children, women and men I am sure they will use them to sell and make soem money. I also contribute $5.00 per month toward the cost of ZAPP. It is not allot but it takes care of 2 neutering/spayings.
I think the biggest challenge is to educate the Mexican people and the government. It has to become a different way of thinking like it has become here in the states. I can remember when I was a child, we NEVER had a dog in the house night or day. The dog although well cared for, was an outdoor pet period. So even here in the US, much has changed in the past 30-40 years. Barbara
